About Us

A colourful nook, Inistioge

The idea for a web-site for Inistioge was developed by Inistioge Community Council during early 2008 and permission was obtained from the Kilkenny Local Authorities to use the www.inistioge.ie address during that year.  It was taken a while to make it a reality as much of our attention has been focused on our joint initiative with the local GAA club to build a Community Centre in Inistioge.  This, too, is at advanced stage of readiness and will open during 2010.

We would like to thank all the individuals, organizations and businesses who have helped with the site whether through taking out adverts, providing content or with ideas.  We would particularly like to thank Francis Nesbitt of www.croan.ie who did the web design work and Jackie Sheehan who designed the logo for the village.  The logo incorporates both the bridge over the Nore and the trees of Woodstock and we hope it will be used as an identity for the area into the future.  We would also like to remind everyone that we did not obtain any external funding for this web-site and it is envisaged that it will be self-funding from advertising revenue.

We are fortunate to have some fabulous photographers living in the area and since this web-site places great emphasis on pictures we would like to thank Andrew Jones, Zandra Larsson, Martin Rigby, Jackie Sheehan and Josette Tierney for permission to use their photographs.

Finally, we would like to emphasise that the purpose of this site is to provide information to people who live and work here as well as to promote the area to visitors.  Please get in touch and let us know what you think of our efforts.  The site will be updated regularly so if you wish to include a news item or information on an upcoming event please get in touch.

On behalf of Inistioge Community Council
